Men's Cross Country Finishes Third of Nine at CUNYAC Championship

Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay men's cross country team finished third of nine teams at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) cross country championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning.

The Bloodhounds accumulated 96 points, while Hunter College won the event with 34 points.

John Jay was led by Jessie Contrera (New York, NY, Newark Tech) who finished 16th overall of 103 runners (31:42) over the eight kilometer course, while fellow teammate Mikey Babayev (Moscow, Russia, Forest Hills) 18th overall and second on John Jay (31:44). Antonio Aguilar (Bronx, NY, Teaching and the Professions)was third for John Jay and 19th in the race (31:45) finishing directly behind Babayev.

Meanwhile Jemal Ninua (Republic of Georgia, James Madison) became the third consecutive John Jay runner to cross the finish line. He was fourth on the team and 20th overall (32:02). Jaime Valentin (Bronx, NY, Freedom) was fifth for John Jay and 23rd in the race (32:24).

Mark Benjamin (Syracuse, NY, Corcoran)was sixth for John Jay and 30th overall (33:54), while Gabriel Rodriguez (Brooklyn, NY, Fort Hamilton)was seventh and 42nd (36:32).

Robbie Ferro (Port Washington, NY, Schriber) was 94th overall (42:48).
