New York, N.Y.— The City University of New York has announced that Jemal Ninua (Republic of Georgia, James Madison) has been named the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Rookie of the Week for the Week ending Oct. 4.

Ninua had another incredible race this past weekend, helping the Bloodhounds to a first place finish amongst Division III schools and second place overall finish at the College of Staten Island Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday.

He blazed the Van Cortlandt Park course in 32:20, third fastest on the team, en route to a twentieth place overall finish of 103 runners at the invitational.

“Jemal has been a great addition to the team this season. He is constantly looking to learn more and looks up to the veterans on the team for advice,” said head coach Tony Phillips. “He's a fun guy to work with, he has a great work ethic, terrific attitude and definitely helps us have a better chance of winning the CUNYAC this year.”

Ninua and the Bloodhounds will race at Van Cortlandt Park one final time before the conference showdown on Oct. 25 when they compete at the Brooklyn College Invitational this Sunday at 10:45 a.m.
