New York, N.Y.— John Jay College of Criminal Justice Department of Athletics celebrated its 36th Annual Athletic Awards Banquet on Tue. May 19. The event, which celebrates the ending of the college athletics season, was held in the fourth floor gym inside of Haaran Hall at 899 Tenth Avenue.
Danielle Bonici (Staten Island, NY, St. Peter's Girls)of the softball team was named the college female Athlete of the Year, while
Josh Pagan (Douglaston, NY, Benjamin Cardozo)of the men's tennis team was named the male Athlete of the Year. Bonici, for the third year in a row, thrived on the softball field as she remains a critical player in the resurgence of the softball program. She was named first team All CUNYAC for the third year in a row. She was second on the team in batting average (.387) and led the squad in slugging percentage(.548), on base percentage (.462), hits (36), total bases (51) and tied for the team lead in RBI (27). Pagan had an exceptional season for John Jay. As a No. 2 singles player, he went undefeated, finishing 10-0. Please
