Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s swimming team is sixth out of six teams at the 2010 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) women’s swimming and diving championships at the Apex Center at Lehman College. The Bloodhounds have 213 points, while Baruch is in first with 703 points.
In the 200 yard medley relay, the team of
Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle),
Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City),
Johanna McLaughlin (New York, NY, Beacon School) and
Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) finished seventh (2:14.22), while the combination of
Billie Jean Kuppler (Long Island City, NY, Long Island City),
Megan Maiello (Towaco, NJ, Montville),
Keshia Hacker (Brooklyn, NY, Murray Bergtraum)and
Amanda Garcia (Astoria, NY, St. John's Prep) was tenth (2:38.03).
In the 100 yard butterfly, McLaughlin was seventh (1:18.55), while Hacker was 11th (1:36.10).
Insalaco was sixth in the 200 yard freestyle (2:22.45), while Kuppler was 13th (2:44.16) and Garcia was 15th (2:58.67).
In the 100 yard breaststroke, Edelman was sixth (1:23.05), while
Teresa Medina (Fishkill, NY, John Jay) was 16th (1:39.33).
In the 100 yard backstroke, Cuellar was seventh (1:13.83), while
Catherine Gomez (Ozone Park, NY, Queens Vocational)was 15th (1:39.72).
Day three, the final day, is set to get underway at 9 a.m. and events on tap include the 1650 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard breaststroke, 200 yard butterfly and 400 yard freestyle relay.
