Bronx, N.Y.— The 2010 City University of New York Athletic Conference women’s swimming and diving championships concluded on Saturday and the women’s swimming team finished in sixth place with 299 points.
Baruch College won the event with 1,044 points.
John Jay finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively in the 1,650 yard freestyle as
Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) finished fifth (22:58.48),
Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle)sixth (23:17.96) and
Justyna Maksimiuk (Sunnyside, NY, Brooklyn Tech) seventh (23:25.04).
In the 100 yard freestyle, Maksimuk was fifth overall (1:02.53), followed by
Johanna McLaughlin (New York, NY, Beacon School) in 11th (1:08.71),
Keshia Hacker (Brooklyn, NY, Murray Bergtraum) in 13th (1:17.72),
Megan Maiello (Towaco, NJ, Montville) in 14th (1:20.71),
Teresa Medina (Fishkill, NY, John Jay) 16th (1:16.46),
Catherine Gomez (Ozone Park, NY, Queens Vocational) in 17th (1:28.30) and
Hannah Kaplenko (East Brunswick, NJ, East Brunshwick) in 18th (1:32.02).
Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City) finished fifth overall in the 200 yard breaststroke (3:04.92).
The Bloodhounds closed out the 2009-10 women’s swimming season with a 5-6 overall record (2-3 CUNYAC) and a fourth place finish in conference regular season action.
