New York, N.Y.— John Jay College of Criminal Justice Department of Athletics, Recreation and Intramurals has announced
Lindsay Roderick as head athletic trainer.
Roderick, though just starting as the trainer for the Bloodhounds, is no stranger to the athletics department. She filled out on a part-time basis during the fall 2011 season though the third party agency, Professional Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy
She spent a year with Professional Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy, and while there Roderick assisted physical therapists in creating and progressing rehabilitation programs for patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions. She taught exercises to patients and ensured that the exercises were performed properly. And she performed manual techniques such as soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and passive stretching.
Prior to that, Roderick spent one year as assistant athletic trainer at Division I University of Vermont. While with the Catamounts, Roderick was the primary sports medicine contact for the men's and women's track and field teams, and served as the ATC for university-sponsored summer youth camps, which included the sports of basketball, soccer, women's lacrosse, and boy's ice hockey.
A native of Avon, Conn., Roderick is a 2009 graduate of Central Connecticut State University where she received her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. She earned numerous honors as an undergrad, and graduated summa cum laude.
"After an exhaustive search, we are very pleased to have Lindsay aboard," said John Jay Director of Athletics, Dan Palumbo. "She has all the qualities we need. She handled the training room very effectively when here part-time, and I know she will provide our student athletes top of the line treatment."
