John Jay College of Criminal Justice Sports Medicine Department is committed to providing comprehensive, high-quality medical services to every student-athlete. On-site medical services provided include, but are not limited to, prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries and illnesses, rehabilitations services, pre-participation exams, nutritional counseling, psychological counseling and drug education and counseling.

An Athletic Trainer is a certified/licensed allied healthcare professional who works under the direction/supervision of a licensed physician to provide health care to athletes. His/her role is to prevent injuries, recognize/evaluate injuries, manage/treat injuries and educate and counsel athletes. An Athletic Trainer provides on-site evaluation and treatment for the injured athlete, immediate first aid care, follow-up rehabilitation care and specific conditioning programs for injury prevention.

As certified members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, John Jay College Athletic Trainer also strives to follow the NATA mission statement:
