Men's Tennis Loses Close one at Rutgers-Newark

Newark, N.J.— The John Jay men’s tennis team lost a tight one on Tuesday as the Bloodhounds were defeated on the road, losing at Rutgers-Newark, 5-4. John Jay is now 1-1 on the season.
 
The Bloodhounds picked up a pair of wins in singles as well as in doubles. Dong Shao (Flushing, NY / Patchogue-Medford) earned his second win in as many matches at first singles, winning 6-2, 6-4, while Jonathan Cedeno (Guayaquil, Ecuador / Long Island City) scored a victory at No. 4 singles, winning 7-5, 6-1.
 
In doubles play Shao and Cedeno teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 2, while Sean McGuire (West Hartford, CT / St. Thomas) and Michael Sohm (Stone Ridge, NY / Rondout Valley) earned a win at No. 3, winning 8-2.
 
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Mar. 27 at Western Connecticut State at 4 p.m.
