Jamar Harry Named D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year

New York, N.Y.— After already being recognized as the top rookie in City University of New York Athletic Conference this season, John Jay men's basketball player, Jamar Harry, earned another prestigious award as the first year men's basketball standout was recognized by the D3hoops.com community and was named the D3hoops.com Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year for the 2010-11 men's basketball season.

Harry earned the award for his stellar play on the court this season. He averaged 16.1 points and 9.8 rebounds, while shooting a blazing 58.4 percent (163-for-279) from the field. He had a team-best 11 double-doubles. He was named CUNYAC Rookie of the Week seven times, and was a major factor in John Jay's resurgence this season which included a berth into the CUNYAC championship tournament.

D3hoops.com regional nominees were nominated for by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. There were 680 players nominated nationwide, a new high. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region. The regional Rookie of the Year award has been awarded for the fourth year in a row honoring the top freshman in each region.
