Laura Drazdowski

Laura Drazdowski is in her third season as the head coach of the softball team at John Jay College.

A native of Mountaintop, Pa., Drazdowski has a wealth of softball expertise. She was a four year standout softball player at Division I Columbia University where she played third base and outfield for the Lions (2000 to ’03). She also played one season of field hockey at Columbia as a defender.

Since coming aboard, the John Jay softball team has finished in fourth place overall in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, their best finish in three years. In the process John Jay has had five individual players be named to an All-CUNYAC team, including one player be named the first team in back-to-back years.
 
In 2009, John Jay swept the College of Staten Island in a doubleheader, a feat no John Jay softball program had ever done. And under Drazdowski, John Jay led the conference in hitting, sporting a .307 team batting average in 2009 and the program was fifth in the nation in runs per game, scoring 7.38 runs per game.
 
In addition to her duties as softball coach, Drazdowski is the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions where her primary role is to help bring awareness to the athletics program around the campus.

Prior to John Jay, Drazdowski was at her alma mater where she served as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. and was the primary media contact for numerous programs including softball, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, baseball and archery.

She graduated from Columbia in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. She graduated from Mountaintop’s Crestwood High School in 1999 where she was a member of its softball and field hockey teams.
