Flushing, NY - John Jay College freshman runner Kaitlin Hicks has been named the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, for the week ending September 22nd.
This is Hicks' second honor as CUNYAC Rookie of the Week as she captured the same award for the week ending September 8th.
"I want to thank my coaches and teammates for pushing me to do my best," Hicks said.Â
The Islip native led the Bloodhounds once again last Saturday, September 21st at the Bard Invitational. She finished with a personal best time of 20:01 for the 5K showdown. Hicks ended the race in 31st place overall. Out of the CUNYAC teams that participated in the race, she also finished second amongst CUNYAC runners.
"Kaitlin continues to excel throughout the season," head coach Tony Phillips said. "The team and the coaching staff are very proud of her accomplishments thus far and we are anxious to watch her grow throughout the season."
Hicks and her teammates are back in action on Sunday, September 29 at the College of Staten Island Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
