Jamaica, N.Y.- The John Jay women's tennis team has advanced to the 2006 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) semifinals as they defeated Lehman College, 7-1, at the York College Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The team was led by Elizabeth Cyran (Woodridge, NY/ Paramus Catholic) who won in second flight 6-0, 6-0. Daisy Rivera (Bronx, NY/ HS of Law, Gvt. & Justice) also won compellingly winning 6-0, 6-1 in first flight.
Melissa Rodriguez (Palisades Park, NJ/ Palisades Park) had won her first match 6-4 in fifth flight, but the match was called due to darkness.
John Jay will return to action on Fri. Oct. 20 for a semifinal matchup against either No. 2 Baruch or No. 7 the College of Staten Island.
