New York, N.Y.-- The John Jay men's soccer team lost a close one as they fell to Baruch College, 2-0 at Riverbank State Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was nip and tuck down to the wire, and despite being outshot by the visiting Bearcats (14-6), John Jay stayed in the contest with help from freshman goalkeeper Edwin Casas (Bogota, Colombia/ South Side) who made seven saves.

The Bloodhounds found themselves locked into a scoreless tie at the intermission, but Baruch got on the board minutes into the second half on a goal by Edward Shin (Queens, NY/ Bridgeport) on a loose ball in front of the net.

John Jay had several opportunities late in the contest, but Baruch put the game out of reach in the closing seconds on a goal by Alex Sokol (Staten Island, NY/ Susan Wagner) with nine seconds remaining.

Slawomir Balon (Brooklyn, NY/ Fort Hamilton) and Daniel Munoz (Peoria, Colombia/ East Hampton) each recorded two shots a piece for the Bloodhounds.

John Jay will return to action on Sat. Sept. 16 against the College of Staten Island at 12 p.m.
