Women's Tennis Nipped in Season Opener

Wayne, N.J.-- Playing in their 2006 season opener the John Jay women's tennis team lost a close one, losing  to New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) representative, William Paterson College 5-4 on Saturday afternoon.

After losing two of three matches in doubles competition, the Bloodhounds earned wins in single flights one, two, and three.

After losing in fourth and sixth flight, John Jay found themselves locked into a 4-4 tie. But the Bloodhounds lost fifth flight in a three set thriller to fall to 0-1 on the season.

John Jay returns to action on Sept.14 when they host St. Joseph's-Patchogue at 4 p.m. at the York College tennis complex.
