Hackettstown, N.J.— The John Jay men’s soccer team played to a 2-2 tie in a non conference affair at Centenary College on Wednesday as the Bloodhounds now stand at 6-7-2 (4-1-1 CUNYAC) on the season.

John Jay raced out to a 2-0 lead in the contest. The Bloodhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a goal by Hiromi Karahashi (Kanagawa, Japan / St. Johnsburg). The junior defender put the ball to the back of the mesh after a penalty kick by him was denied by the Cyclone goalkeeper. He then stuffed the rebound home to break the scoreless tie

After going into halftime with a 1-0 lead, the Bloodhounds took a two goal lead early in the second half as Karahashi placed another shot past the Centenary keeper on a corner kick that was attempted by Christopher Tapia (Fresh Meadows, NY / Central Islip). It was his team leading eighth goal of the season as Karahashi has now recorded at least one goal in his past four games.

Centenary however came back with a pair of goals of their own in the final 45 minutes to tie the game.

The Cyclones recorded goals in the 69th minute and the 89th minute to force overtime before the match eventually ended in a draw.

Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica / Van Buren), making his first start in net since Sept. 9, made 11 saves in the contest as Centenary out shot John Jay 25-12.

10 of the Bloodhounds’ shots were on net, and John Jay had a team-high three shots from Karahashi.

John Jay will return to action on Sat. Sept. 13 for a home match against New York City Tech, 2 p.m. at the Metropolitan Oval.
