Baruch Topples Women's Basketball In Conference Opener

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s basketball team lost in its home opener as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Baruch College, 90-40, at the Doghouse on Tuesday evening.
 
John Jay is now 1-7 (0-1 CUNYAC), while Baruch is 4-2 (1-0 CUNYAC).
 
Baruch opened the game by scoring the first seven points of the game and led from the opening tip off.
 
John Jay trailed by as much as 15 in the first half on thee occasions, most recent at halftime when Baruch was on top 40-25 at the break.
 
Baruch then outscored John Jay 40-15 in the second half, and forced the Bloodhounds into 25 turnovers in the stanza, including 12 in the final five minutes.
 
The Bloodhounds were led by Parker Griffin (New York, NY / Bishop Kearney) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ganimete Ukperaj (Bellmore, NY / John F. Kennedy) added 10 points and five steals for John Jay.
 
Monique Salmon (Bronx, NY / Truman) paced Baruch with 18 points and seven assists.
 
John Jay will return to action on Fri. Dec. 7 at Hunter College at 5:30 p.m.
