Women’s Swimming Loses to Hunter College

New York, N.Y. --- The John Jay women’s swimming team was defeated at home as the Bloodhounds lost to Hunter College, 60-33, at the John Jay Pool on Wednesday evening.
 
The visiting Hawks won the 200 yard medley relay then finished first and second in the next three events to grab a 31-3 lead after four.
 
Hunter finished first in every event before swimming for exhibition, and scored first and second place points in each event before swimming the final three events as exhibition.
 
Samantha Michaele (Somerset, NJ / Immaculata) scored a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley (3:11.94), the lone Bloodhound to score a top two finish before the remainder of the meet became exhibition.
 
Michelle Cordero (Brooklyn, NY / Fontbonne Academy) received first place points in the 500 yard freestyle (7:53.62), with Amanda Garcia (Astoria, NY / St. John’s Prep) scoring directly behind (7:53.62).
 
Cecelia Pena (Brooklyn, NY / Bushwick) recorded first place points in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:38.35), while Michaele scored second (1:42.18).
 
In the 200 yard free relay the team of Kelly Calderon (Bronx, NY / St. Catherine Academy), Christina Rivera (Guaynabo, PR / Bayamon Military Academy), Cordero, and Garcia garnered first place points (2:14.82).
 
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Nov. 11 for its 2007-08 home finale against USMMA at 6 p.m.
