Bloodhound Quest for CUNYAC Championship Ends After Overtime Loss to Lehman

The John Jay women's basketball lost on Tuesday evening as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Lehman College 71-61 in overtime in the semifinal round of the 2007 CUNYAC Con Edison women's basketball championship. The Bloodhounds have been eliminated from the tournament. Lashannen Hogue led John  Jay with 16 points and 20 rebounds before fouling out at the end of regulation. Melissa Escalera had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Bloodhounds who are now 18-9 and await a possible post season bid. Vanessa Rivera, who had 12 points in defeat, drilled a three point field goal nine seconds remaining to give the Bloodhounds a 58-57 lead. But Lehman's Sally Nnamani was fouled with one second remaining, and made one-of-two free throws to send the game into overtime. Click here for box score and here for full story
