Bloodhounds Silenced by Hawks

Montclair, N.J.— Facing arguably the toughest opponent they will face this season the John Jay softball team was swept in a doubleheader losing at Montclair State 12-0 and 11-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Bloodhounds now stand at 1-5 on the season.
 
Montclair State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and led 4-0 after two. The host Hawks then scored eight more runs in the bottom of the fourth frame to take a 12-0 lead to put the game out of reach.
 
Erica Esposito (Dix Hills, NY/ Half Hollow Hills) in the circle went 4.0 innings allowing 12 hits, 12 runs (10 earned), and struck out one
 
In the second game Montclair State scored 10 runs in the first inning to take a comfortable lead as the Hawks completed their sweep. Arlene Pena (Bronx, NY/ Lehman) was the lone Bloodhound to score a hit in the contest, a seeing eye single through the left side in the second inning.
 
John Jay will return to action on Wed. Mar. 28 at SUNY Maritime for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
