Men's Soccer Loses by Three at Western Connecticut State

Danbury, Conn.— The John Jay men’s soccer team lost a non conference game on the road Wednesday. The Bloodhounds were defeated by Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), 3-0. John Jay is now 3-8-0 this season.
 
The host Colonials got a goal in the first and two more in the second half en route to the decision.
 
The Colonials got on the board very late in the first half when WCSU’s Chris Hoagland hit the back of the mesh with 41:41 gone by to go up by a goal.
 
The hosts added two more within minutes of each other in half number two. WCSU grabbed a 2-0 advantage when Roger Rua put one in the net at the 76:53 point. The Colonials capped off the scoring in the 80th minute on a goal by Frank Rizio.
 
WCSU recorded 38 shots in the contest to John Jay’s 12. The Bloodhounds got a team high two shots each from Gary McGurk and Anthony Lozada in the contest.
 
Kemar Brown started in net and made a career-high 14 saves.
 
John Jay returns to action on Wed. Oct. 8 for a home match with conference rival the College of Staten Island at 4 p.m.
