Men's Soccer Falls at Rutgers-Newark

Newark, N.J.— The John Jay men’s soccer team lost in its final non conference regular season match this season on Monday night as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Rutgers-Newark University, 4-1 at the Rutgers-Newark Soccer Complex.
 
With the loss, John Jay is now 3-12-0 on the season.
 
The host Scarlet Raiders took a 1-0 advantage with just over a minute gone by on a goal by Robert Campos, his first of two on the evening.
 
The Bloodhounds’ lone goal came later in the first half on a strike by Andres Llanos early in the 20th minute to tie the contest at 1-1. But the tie lasted for just over a minute as Campos scored his second goal of the game at the 20:19 mark to give the Scarlet Raiders a lead they would not relinquish.
 
Rutgers-Newark added another goal at the 22:57 mark to go up 3-1 at halftime as the Scarlet-Raiders would add another goal in the second half to win by three.
 
The Scarlet-Raiders held a 27-11 advantage over John Jay in shots, including a 10-4 advantage in the first half.
 
Kemar Brown made nine saves for John Jay.
 
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Oct. 18 for a home contest with Baruch College, noon at the Metropolitan Oval.
