Annapolis, Md. --- The John Jay rifle team picked up just where it left off and then some on its opening weekend, as the defending Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference champions shattered team records in small bore and air rifle at the United States Naval Academy this weekend.
In air rifle on Saturday, the Bloodhounds recorded an all-time team high 2244, destroying the old mark by over 80 points, en route to a three point win over the United States Coast Guard Academy. Zawislak lit the target with a 572, while Wilson scored a 567. Hansen put up a 559 and Gordeychuk a 546.
On Sunday, the Bloodhounds were impressive once again. In small bore they scored a 2166, breaking the team record that was set just a day earlier. Wilson was the team’s top finisher with 558 points and Zawislak was second best with 555. Hanson scored a 528 and Gordeychuk a 525.
In air rifle John Jay shot a 2237. Wilson put up a 565, while Zawislak had a 564. Hanson scored a 562, while Gordeychuk had a 546.
