Softball Loses a Pair to Baruch

New York, N.Y.--The John Jay softball team lost a pair of conference games on Sunday as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Baruch College. The Bloodhounds were defeated by the Bearcats 4-0 in game one and lost 9-0 in game two.
 
In the first game the Bloodhounds went nip and tuck with Baruch and found themselves locked into a scoreless tie though the first 4 1/2 innings. But the host Bearcats got a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to lead 4-0 and go on to win.
 
The Bloodhounds got five hits in the opening game and got one hit apiece from Marina Gomez (Bronx, NY / Clinton), Marlenne Nunez (Bronx, NY / Bronx Leadership). Jasmine Miranda (Passaic, NJ / Passaic), Arlene Pena (Bronx, NY / Lehman) and Nina Chao (Woodside, NY / Bryant) who all went 1-for-3.
 
Angela Lam (Brooklyn, NY / Newtown) pitched six full innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out one.
 
In game two, Baruch jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and led from start to finish as the Bearcats defeated the Bloodhounds via the five inning mercy rule.
 
Pena, Alyce Miraglia (Lindenwood, NY / Stella Maris), Pamala Peralta (Bronx, NY / Kennedy) and Danielle Bonici (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter’s Girls) each recorded one hit each in the contest for John Jay.
