Mahwah, N.J.— The John Jay men’s soccer team opened its 2008 varsity schedule with a loss on Saturday afternoon as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Ramapo College, 5-0 at the Ramapo Athletic Center.
John Jay is now 0-1-0 on the season while Ramapo is 2-0-0.
The host Roadrunners got on the board at the 19:19 mark of the first half on a goal by Giuseppe Trani before scoring another goal, this one by Frank Vogas, his first of two on the afternoon, at the 38:36 point of the opening half to take a 2-0 lead at the midway point.
Ramapo then put three more in the net in the first twenty minutes of the second half to go up 5-0 and win from there.
John Jay recorded two shots in the contest with one each coming off the foot of Henrique Avellar (Goiania, Brazil / Julia Richmond) and Andres Llanos (Cali, Colombia / Newtown). The Bloodhounds were outshot 20-2 in the contest.
Christopher Adao (Colonia, NJ / Colonia) started in net and made four saves and allowed four goals in 56:47 of action before giving way to reserve keeper Kemar Brown (Kingston Jamaica / Martin Van Buren) who made three saves in the final 33:13.
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Sept. 2 at Polytechnic Univ. at 4 p.m.
