Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime, 2-1, to Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, N.Y.— The John Jay men’s soccer team loss a tough one on the road Wednesday afternoon as the Bloodhounds were defeated in overtime, losing to Medgar Evers College, 2-1, at Old Boys High School.
 
The loss leaves the Bloodhounds at 2-7-0 (0-3-0 CUNYAC) this season.
 
It was the second time in as many games John Jay lost on a late goal. The Bloodhounds lost at York College 1-0 on a goal in the final two minutes on Saturday.
 
John Jay took an early advantage in this game and led 1-0 on a first half goal by Dimal Basha, his first of the season. Andres Llanos offered the assist in what was the Bloodhounds first goal of the season against a conference opponent.
 
The Bloodhounds led for much of the first half, but the host Cougars tied the game later in the half on a strike by Medgar Evers’ Michael Plummer.
 
Both schools went into halftime tied, and neither team scoring in the second half.
 
The Cougars’ Travis Pinnock connected on the game winner in overtime as John Jay has lost its first three conference games this season by one goal each.
 
John Jay recorded nine shots in the contest while Dimal Basha and Henrique Avellar had three each.
 
Chris Adao made five saves in net for the Bloodhounds.
 
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 27 at Brooklyn College at noon.
