New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team lost at home on Thursday evening as the Bloodhounds were defeated by conference foe Baruch College, losing to the Bearcats, 61-33, at the John Jay Pool.
John Jay is now 0-7 (0-4 CUNYAC) this season, while Baruch is 7-6 (4-1 CUNYAC).
The Bloodhounds got first run on the visiting Bearcats, winning the 200 yard medley relay behind the team of
Billie Jean Kuppler (Long Island City, NY, Long Island City),
Ashley Stewart (Lacey Township, NJ, Lacey Township),
Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle)and
Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City)(2:23.76).
But it was the only event the Bloodhounds would win until Baruch swam for exhibition for the final pair of races.
Stewart picked up a first place finish by outright winning the 100 yard breaststroke (1:26.27).
The Bloodhounds finished second in the 50 yard freestyle with Insalaco finishing in the runner up spot (33.80).
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Jan. 20 for a home meet against St. Joseph's-Patchogue at 6 p.m.
