Women’s Swimming Falls at York

Jamaica, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team lost in its final road and conference match for the 2008-09 season as the Bloodhounds were defeated at York College, 91-78.

John Jay now stands at 0-9 (0-5 CUNYAC) this season.

Sophomore Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle) earned a trio of wins at the meet, scoring first place finishes in the 200 meter freestyle (2:55.37), 100 meter butterfly (1:31.58) and 100 meter backstroke (1:33.55)

Freshman Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City) finished in the runner up spot in the 100 meter freestyle (1:24.07) and 50 meter freestyle (37.12), while Kaili Insalaco (Ridgefield Park, NJ, Flagler Palm Coast) earned wins in the 500 meter freestyle as well as the 1000 meter freestyle. Ashley Stewart (Lacey Township, NJ, Lacey Township)was a winner in the 100 meter breaststroke, while Deandra Beach (Brooklyn, NY, South Shore) was third in the 200 meter freestyle (3:41.05).

John Jay returns to action on Thu. Jan. 29 for its 2008-09 regular season finale, a home meet against the College of St. Elizabeth at 6 p.m.
