Newark, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team wrapped up their 2009 road match-ups with a loss on the road Monday evening as the Bloodhounds were defeated by Rutgers-Newark University 7-0 at Alumni Field.
John Jay is now 2-12-2 this season. The host Scarlet Raiders scored a pair of goals in the first half to go up by a pair before halftime. Rutgers-Newark got the scoring started when
Robert Campos found the back of the mesh at 29:52. The second goal was scored at 36:27 when
Innocent Buule put one home and Rutgers-Newark was up 2-0.
The Scarlet-Raiders scored five more times in the second half. Campos scored the first two of the stanza to put Rutgers-Newark up by four. The first was scored 1:01 into the second half before completing a hat-trick at the 56:37 point.
John Jay was outshot 42-4 in the contest including 19-3 in the first half and 23-1 in the second half.
Chris Adao (Colonia, NJ, Colonia) started in net and made 10 saves in the first 55:57 before giving way to
Joseph Rahilly (Malverne, NY, Malverne) who made six saves in the final 34:03.
John Jay returns to action on Wed. Oct. 21 for its final conference contest of the season when the Bloodhounds host York College at the Metropolitan Oval at 8 p.m.
