Women's Swimming Sails to Victory over Conference Foe York College

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team picked up its fourth win of the season as the Bloodhounds defeated fellow City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) foe York College, 61-33, at the John Jay Pool.

The Bloodhounds are now 4-4 (2-2 CUNYAC) this season, while York falls to 2-7 (0-4 CUNYAC).

John Jay scored wins in three of the first four events of the evening and were victors in seven races overall.

The Bloodhounds opened the meet by picking up a win in the 200 yard medley relay (2:11.46), before Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) earned a win in the 1000 yard freestyle (14:25.37).

In the 50 yard freestyle, Justyna Maksimiuk (Sunnyside, NY, Brooklyn Tech) earned a victory (27.77), and following a York win in the 200 yard individual medley, the Bloodhounds won four straight to put the match out of reach as John Jay led 58-20 with two events remaining.

Johanna McLaughlin (New York, NY, Beacon School)claimed the top spot in the 100 yard butterfly (1:21.53) before Maksimiuk won the 100 yard freestyle (1:02.44). Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle) finished first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:18.96) before Insalaco won the 500 yard freestyle (6:49.86).

John Jay returns to action on Thu. Jan. 14 at Baruch College at 6 p.m.
