Randall's Island, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team lost a conference match on Wednesday, losing to the City College of New York (CCNY) 3-0.
With the loss, John Jay is now 5-8-2 (2-4-2 CUNYAC) and could be in dire need of a win on Saturday when the Bloodhounds close out the conference schedule against Brooklyn College on Saturday.
In Wednesday's game, the host Beavers scored all three goals in the second half en route to the win.
After a scoreless first half, CCNY got on the board with a penalty kick for the first goal of the game off the foot of
Kerille Bruno at the 64:32 mark.
The Beavers then took a commanding lead with two more goals moments later, both scored by
Muhammad Zakeri sixty-seven seconds apart.
John Jay outshot CCNY 16-15 overall, including 10-3 in the first half.
Ganama Issouf (Bronx, NY, Lycee Linda)and
Ray Sanicola (East Meadow, NY, St. Anthony's) both took three shots in the contest for the Bloodhounds.
Saturday's game against Brooklyn is slated for a 12 p.m. start at Kingsborough Community College.
