Edward Gonzalez (Palm Bay, FL, Bayside)scored a pair of first half goals to set the pace, but the host York College Cardinals battled back with two goals in the second half as the Bloodhounds endured their first tie of the season as John Jay and York battled to a 2-2 score at the York College Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.
With the tie, John Jay picks up a point in the conference standings and now have seven. The Bloodhounds are 5-5-1 overall (2-2-1 CUNYAC).
Gonzalez's team and conference leading 11th and 12th goals of the season came early in the game. He put John Jay on the board first with a strike exactly four minutes into the contest with an assist from teammate
Steven Castillo (Maspeth, NY, Forest Hills).
Gonzalez scored again 10:01 later to put the Bloodhounds up by a pair. Castillo got his second assist of the game on the second goal, and
M. Nasim Allah Morad (Flushing, NY, Flushing International) Morad picked up an assist.
But the Bloodhounds 2-0 lead, which went all the way into halftime, did not stand. York scored its first goal of the game on a strike from Menard Millus at 54:48, before the Cardinals broke even early in the seventy-first minute on a goal by Khadim Kebe.
York outshot John Jay 15-13 overall.
Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica, Martin Van Buren)made five saves in net for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay returns to action on Wed. Oct. 6 for a match against the College of Staten Island, 4 p.m. at the Metropolitan Oval.
