Purchase, N.Y.— The John Jay women's soccer team was defeated by SUNY Purchase 5-1 at SUNY Purchase Soccer Field on Monday evening.
With the loss, John Jay is now 2-9-0 this season.
Ashley Oakes (Poughkeepsie, NY, Arlington)scored the Bloodhounds' lone goal of the game with a strike at the 59:24 point of the game off a cross by
Alexis Ochoa (Whittier, CA, La Serna).
Oakes' goal broke a 4-0 Panther lead at that moment.
SUNY Purchase scored two goals in the first and two in the second before Oakes put John Jay on the scoreboard.
Abigail Katz scored the first four goals of the game for the Panthers, her team leading nineteenth, twentieth, twenty-first and twenty-second goals.
The host Panthers closed out the scoring with a strike by
Jessica DiFoggio just a second before the sixty-third minute.
SUNY Purchase outshot John Jay 25-2 in the contest.
Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island, NY, Franklin D. Rooselvelt) made nine saves in net for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Oct. 28 against CCNY for sole possession of third place in the conference standings, on Randall's Island at 3:30 p.m.
