Staten Island, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team earned another point in the conference standings as the Bloodhounds battled the College of Staten Island to a 1-1 tie at the College of Staten Island Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
With the tie, the Bloodhounds remain at .500 on the season overall and in conference play with a 5-5-2 overall mark and 2-2-2 in City University of New York Athletic Conference play.
The Bloodhounds, who outshot the host Dolphins 18-13 scored their only goal of the match late in the first half off the foot of M.
M. Nasim Allah Morad (Flushing, NY, Flushing International) at the 42:16 mark of the contest which gave John Jay a 1-0 lead just moments before halftime.
But the host Dolphins struck back and knotted the game early in the second half on a strike by
Kenneth Zaw midway though the fifty-first minute.
Neither team found the net again as John Jay secured its second tie in as many matches.
The Bloodhounds attempted nine corner kicks to just four for the Dolphins.
Steven Merino (Bronx, NY, Salesian) made his first start of the season in net and stopped four shots.
Allah Morad,
Ganama Issouf (Bronx, NY, Lycee Linda) and
Kareem Roberts (St. Albans, NY, William Taft)took three shots each for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay is back in action on Sat. Oct. 9 for a match at the Metropolitan Oval against Hunter College at 4 p.m.
