Alexis Ochoa (Whittier, CA, La Serna) netted a pair of goals, and tied the John Jay record for most goals by a John Jay women's soccer player in a season, and
Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island, NY, Franklin D. Rooselvelt)made four saves to help the Bloodhounds back on the winning trail as the women's soccer team defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent 3-0 at the SUNY Purchase Soccer Field on Thursday afternoon.
It was the second win of the season for the Bloodhounds, who are now 2-4-0 overall this season.
John Jay scored a pair of goals in the first half and another in the second stanza in the win.
The Bloodhounds got on the board first in the thirty-third minute when
Stephanie Ibarra (New York, NY, Cathedral) scored her second goal of the season at the 32:41 mark. Then just under two minutes later Ochoa netted her first of a pair, and it gave John Jay a 2-0 advantage.
Ochoa's other goal, her team-leading fifth, was scored at the 65:46 marker, and the Bloodhounds were in control.
The Bloodhounds outshot the host Dolphins 15-12 overall. Ochoa took nine shots in the contest, while
Jennifer Gomez and
Brenda Pitts took two each.
Kopec's four saves allowed her John Jay's first shutout victory of the season.
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Oct. 9 at Rutgers-Camden University at 12:30 p.m.
