Women’s Soccer Loses at Rutgers-Camden

Camden, N.J.— The John Jay women's soccer team was defeated by Rutgers-Camden University 6-1 at Camden Community Park on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, John Jay is now 2-5-0 overall this season.

The Bloodhounds fought hard with the host Scarlet-Raptors for the first forty-five minutes as the two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

But in the second half, Rutgers-Camden exploded for six goals. The Scarlet-Raptors scored a pair of goals first to take a 2-0 lead.

John Jay then got on the scoreboard late in the seventieth minute when Alexis Ochoa (Whittier, CA, La Serna) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to become John Jay's all-time goal scoring leader.

But Rutgers-Camden netted four more goals late in the second half to break the contest open en route to the five-goal victory.

Rutgers-Camden outshot John Jay 29-3 in the contest, and took 12 corner kicks to one for the Bloodhounds.

Jennifer Gomez (Bayshore, NY, Brentwood) and Stephanie Ibarra (New York, NY, Cathedral) added one shot each for John Jay.

Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island, NY, Franklin D. Rooselvelt) made eight saves for the Bloodhounds.
