Yonkers, N.Y.— Fellow City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) First Team All-Stars
Brenda Pitts (Astoria, NY, Home Schooled)and
Alexis Ochoa (Whittier, CA, La Serna) combined for eight goals, while fellow first team member,
Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island, NY, Franklin D. Rooselvelt)made a pair of saves to secure the shutout as the Bloodhounds close out their 2010 season with an 8-0 win over Yeshiva University at Tibbets Brook Park on Tuesday evening.
With the win, John Jay ends its first season of play at 3-10-1 overall.
Pitts, who netted five goals on the evening, fired what eventually turned out to be the game winner just 2:21 into the contest to put John Jay on the board.
The Bloodhounds proceeded to score four more in the first half to take a 5-0 lead at halftime. Pitts scored four goals in the first half of action including strikes at the 15:09, 36:53 and 44:06 marks. Ochoa, who led the team in goals this season with 13, scored the other first half goal at the 12:53 mark.
Ochoa scored two more in the second half, while Pitts scored one more to round out the scoring. John Jay led 8-0 with just under eighteen minutes remaining before coming away with its most lopsided win in the program's history.
John Jay outshot Yeshiva 27-5 overall, including 18-1 in the first half.
Kopec made one save in each half for John Jay's second shutout of the season.
