New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swim team was defeated in its 2010-11 season opener as the Bloodhounds lost to the College of Staten Island 55-40 at the John Jay Pool on Friday evening.
The Bloodhounds, now 0-1 overall this season, fell behind big early in the contest. The visiting Dolphins earned wins in the first eight races of the meet and led 49-21 at that moment.
John Jay finished out the meet by winning two of the final three events.
Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) got John Jay its first individual win of the season with a victory in the 500 yard freestyle (6:42.08), while
Billie Jean Kuppler (Long Island City, NY, Long Island City)finished second (7:28.65) in the race to complete a John Jay exacta.
In the final event of the evening, the 200 yard free relay, the Bloodhounds used the team of
Keshia Hacker,
Megan Maiello,
Vanessa Toro-Plaza and Kuppler to win (2:14.87).
John Jay is back in action on Tue. Nov. 16 for a meet at the College of New Rochelle at 5:30 p.m.
