Pomona, N.J.— The John Jay softball team lost a pair of games on Thursday as the Bloodhounds fell to Richard Stockton College by scores of 5-0 and 5-1.
In game one, the Bloodhounds were limited to one hit.
Christina Perez (Brooklyn, NY, James Madison) ripped a single in the top of the seventh. Meanwhile, Stockton College got a run in the second and two more in the fourth and another two in the sixth to claim the five run win.
John Jay took the early lead in game two, scoring a run in the top of the second.
Sarah Balgobin (South Ozone Park, NY, John Adams) singled in
Nina Chao (Woodside, NY, W.C. Bryant) who reached base with a double and was 1-for-3.
But the Bloodhounds could not punch another run across as they left two runners on base that inning and two more in the third.
The host Ospreys tied the game in the bottom of the second and scored three more in the third to take the lead.
John Jay had five hits in the second game, including two from
Marina Gomez (Bronx, NY, DeWitt Clinton) who was 2-for-3.
Kim Bifulco suffered the loss after going 6.0 innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on 10 hits.
John Jay is back in action on Sat. Apr. 17 at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a doubleheader starting at noon.
