Flushing, N.Y.— The John Jay men's tennis team picked up its ninth win of the season and improved to 9-1 overall as the Bloodhounds defeated New York City Tech 9-0 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. And with the win, John Jay is now 7-1 in City University of New York Athletic Conference play.
Today's match marked the season debut for sophomore
Akil James (Ozone Park, NY, Aviation), who was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles, while it marked the NCAA debut for
Stefan Williams (Bronx, NY, Lehman) who was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 6 singles.
Josh Pagan (Douglaston, NY, Benjamin Cardozo), last week's conference Player of the Week won again at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1 to improve to 9-1 overall.
Ben Jorgensen (New York, NY, Wooster)was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles.
In doubles play,
Kelvin Rodriguez (Bronx, NY, Bronx Law, Government & Justice) and
Stephen Walz (Ramsey, NJ, Ramsey) were a 8-0 winner at No. 2 doubles.
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Apr. 22 at the College of Staten Island at 3:30 p.m.
