Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team outshot its opponent 19-6, dominated the game for much of the afternoon, and limited its opponent to just two second half shots on net, as the Bloodhounds earned their third straight victory with a 2-0 win over the College of Mount Saint Mary's at the Metropolitan Oval on Saturday afternoon.

With the win John Jay improves to 3-1-0 overall and now have more overall wins this season than all of last season. Also, the Bloodhounds have recorded 11 goals on the season, which is one more than the entire season last year. The College of Mount Saint Mary's is now 0-4-0 this season.

The host Bloodhounds had control for most of the match. They recorded 10 first half shots to just two for the visiting Blue Knights. John Jay finally cashed in in the final minute of the first half. With just twenty-two seconds remaining before halftime, senior Jeimy Polo (Miami, FL, Forest Hills) headed in a Jason Walker (Windsor, CT, Windsor) corner kick to put the Bloodhounds on top.

John Jay carried the momentum into the second half and picked up another goal in the fifty-fourth minute of play when the speedy Edward Gonzalez (Bayside, FL, Bayside) fought off a Blue Knight defender and managed to get a shot off and nailed the left hand corner of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Meanwhile, the John Jay defense kept the College of Mount Saint Mary's from getting into any kind of flow. Starting goalkeeper, senior Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica, Martin Van Buren) made two second half saves to preserve John Jay's first shutout of the season.

Walker and Steven Castillo (Maspeth, NY, Forest Hills) led the Bloodhounds with five shots, three on goal.

Ryan Folken took a pair of shots for the Blue Knights, one on net.

Ron Bonilla made eight saves for the College of Mount Saint Mary's

John Jay returns to action on Wed. Sept. 15 against Medgar Evers College at 6 p.m. at Aviator Field.
