Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay College men's soccer team's four match win streak came to an end on Saturday evening as the Bloodhounds were defeated by New York University (NYU) 2-0 at Gaelic Park.
With the loss, John Jay is now 4-2-0, while NYU is 4-1-1 overall.
It was an evenly played match with neither team taking many shots in the first half. The Bloodhounds were limited to two first half strikes to NYU's eight. But the score remained tied 0-0 after the first forty-five minutes of play.
The host Violets got on the board in the second half when
Paolo Luciano netted the game's first goal at the 61:16 mark with a strike to the lower right-hand corner of the net.
NYU struck again literally twenty minutes later when Luciano assisted on a goal by
Kyle Green to put the Violets up by a pair.
The Bloodhounds fired 10 shots and recorded three on goal, including two by
Edward Gonzalez (Palm Bay, FL, Bayside) and one by
Jason Walker (Windsor, CT, Windsor).
