Men’s Soccer Falls at Home to NYU-Polytechnic

Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team lost a close one at the Metropolitan Oval on Monday evening as the Bloodhounds were defeated by NYU Polytechnic University (Poly) 1-0.

With the loss, John Jay is now 4-3-0 overall, while Poly is now 6-1-1 this season.

In a match that had much of the play in the first half in the neutral zone, Poly scored the game's only goal at the 20:40 mark when Mamadou Dianko took control of the lose ball and lofted it to the back of the net.

The host Bloodhounds had several chances but could not cash in. Late in the first half, Kareem Roberts (St. Albans, NY, William Taft) fired a shot from close range that was stopped. In the second half, a pair of John Jay shots clanked the crossbar.

John Jay outshot the Blue Jays 14-9 in the contest. Jason Walker (Windsor, CT, Windsor) led the Bloodhounds with four shots in the contest.

Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica, Martin Van Buren) made three saves in net for the Bloodhounds.

John Jay returns to action on Wed Sept. 22 for a conference match against New York City Tech, 3:30 p.m. at Floyd Bennett Field.
