Staten Island, N.Y.— The John Jay women's soccer team was defeated by perennial City University of New York Athletic Conference powerhouse College of Staten Island 8-0 at the CSI Soccer Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, John Jay is now 1-3-0 (1-2-0 CUNYAC) this season, while CSI is now 4-1-0 (1-0-0 CUNYAC).
The host Dolphins scored their first of eight goals 6:50 into the contest and led 3-0 at halftime.
The duo of
Demi-Jean Martorano and
Paige Buono each netted hat-tricks for the Dolphins, who out-shot the Bloodhounds 24-6 in the contest including 10-2 in the first half and 14-4 in the second half.
Alexis Ochoa (Whittier, CA, La Serna) and
Stephanie Ibarra (New York, NY, Cathedral) fired two shots each for John Jay, while Ibarra recorded the only shot on goal.
Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island, NY, Franklin D. Rooselvelt) made six saves in net for John Jay.
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 25 for a match against Medgar Evers College at the Metropolitan Oval at noon.
