Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team fired a season-high 35 shots, and had control for most of the contest, but untimely errors in the second half led to a trio of Lehman goals as the Bloodhounds were struck by the Lightning 3-1 at the Metropolitan Oval on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, John Jay suffered its first conference loss of the season as the Bloodhounds fall to 5-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in City University of New York Athletic Conference play. Lehman improves to 3-5-1 and remain unbeaten in conference play this season (2-0-1).

John Jay outshot Lehman 17-4 in the first half and scored the game's first goal off the foot of Edward Gonzalez (Palm Bay, FL, Bayside) whose team-leading tenth goal of the season came at the 27:38 mark to put the Bloodhounds up 1-0.

Lehman tied the score early in the sixty-seventh minute on a strike by Geovanny Arredondo that sprung to life the once dormant Lightning. Lehman continued its momentum for the next several minutes and took the lead on a goal by Assami Valian just less than six minutes later to change the whole complexion of the game.

The Bloodhounds continued on the attack, but could not put the ball into the net. John Jay had several golden opportunities to cash in late. Jeimy Polo (Miami, FL, Forest Hills) took a corner kick and headed it toward the goal just inches too high off the crossbar.

The Bloodhounds constant pressure led to 11 corner kicks, while Lehman failed to attempt one.

The Lightning put the icing on the cake in the final minute of play as Frantz Enama put the ball in the net to insure the lead.

Lehman attempted twenty fewer shots than the Bloodhounds.

Jason Walker (Windsor, CT, Windsor)took eight shots in the game for John Jay.

Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica, Martin Van Buren) made six saves for the Bloodhounds. Marcos Coto-Batres stopped 12 shots for Lehman.

John Jay returns to action on Wed. Sept. 29 for a match against fellow conference rival Baruch College at the Metropolitan Oval at 6 p.m.
