Purchase, N.Y.— Last season the John Jay men's soccer team failed to even score more than two goals in a game, and they only scored two goals in two games. But on Friday, the Bloodhounds put the ball past the crease four times, as the new look Bloodhounds rolled past SUNY Purchase with a 4-1 win on Friday evening.
Ratko Rakocevic (Montenegro, Vaso Aligrvic),
Kareem Roberts (St. Albans, NY, William Taft),
Edward Gonzalez (Queens, NY, Bayside) and
Jason Walker (Windsor, CT, Windsor)scored a goal each in the win for the Bloodhounds who improved to 1-1 on the season.
The host Panthers took the lead with their only goal of the game, a strike in the thirty-first minute by
Dan Grabowski-Clark. But Rakocevic scored the equalizer at the 40:18 mark to tie the score.
Roberts' goal came in the opening moments of the second half to give John Jay the lead for good. The latter two goals by the Bloodhounds came in the sixty-seventh and seventieth minute respectively to insure the win.
John Jay registered 26 shots to only six for SUNY Purchase.
Kemar Brown (Kingston, Jamaica, Martin Van Buren) made three saves in net for John Jay.
John Jay returns to action on Mon. Sept. 6 for its 2010 home opener against SUNY Maritime at noon at the Metropolitan Oval.
