Staten Island, N.Y.— John Jay men's soccer player
Navid Allah Morad had eight points on the afternoon, including two goals and two assists in what was an all around team effort as the Bloodhounds picked up their most lopsided win of the season in a 4-0 rout over the City College of New York (CCNY) at the College of Staten Island Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The win improves John Jay to 4-10-3 (3-3-0 CUNYAC) this season and unbeaten in last four (3-0-1), while CCNY falls to 5-9-1 (3-3-0 CUNYAC).
John Jay pounced over the Beavers from start to finish. John Jay got the scoring started late in the third minute as the Allah Morad brothers hooked up for the first time this season when Navid fed younger sibling Rashid from a perfect spot inside the box and ripped it to the back of the mesh for the first goal of the game.
Later in the first half, John Jay went up a deuce when freshman
Korede Griffith blasted in a header off a free kick from
Navid Allah Morad at 21:54.
But John Jay was not done yet in the first half and scored another one. This time Navid scored the goal himself. Teammate
Ganama Issouf lifted a shot from near midfield and landed right on goal. But the CCNY goalkeeper failed to control possession upon the initial save and Navid beat him to the loose ball and blasted it to give the Bloodhounds a comfortable lead going into halftime.
Navid put home the game's only goal of the second half at 54:04 to round out the scoring.
John Jay held a 14-11 advantage in shots and got a game-high six from
Navid Allah Morad.
Vitecha Kochaon made four saves in net for his third shutout of the season.
CCNY was led by Simon Schweiger with five shots and two on net.
John Jay returns to action on Saturday as the Bloodhounds wrap up their 2011 home and conference regular season schedule against Brooklyn College at 12 p.m.
