Women's Basketball Falls to Farmingdale State

Grantham, Pa.— The John Jay women's basketball team was defeated by Farmingdale State 70-53 in the consolation game of the Ramada Inn Tip-off hosted by Messiah College.
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds are 0-2 on the young season.
 
The Bloodhounds were led by Tyana Hale with 19 points. She was a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line and had seven rebounds and six steals.
 
Jamecia Forsythe had 14 points and nine rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Farmingdale State was led by Kayla Koch with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Bloodhounds led by as much as eight early in the contest. They were up 22-14 with 5:48 to play before the Rams began to cut into the lead. Farmingdale State outscored the Bloodhounds 21-3 over the final five and a half minutes to lead 35-25 at halftime.
 
Farmingdale State gradually pulled away in the second half. They were up by 22 and were ahead 53-31 with 14:00 remaining, before the Bloodhounds made another run. John Jay outscored the Rams 14-3 to cut the deficit in half with 8:33 to go.
 
But Farmingdale State kept the Bloodhounds at bay the rest of the way. The Bloodhounds were within 10 and were down 61-51 with 3:45 to go, but the Rams closed out the game outscoring John Jay 9-2 en route to the win.
 
John Jay returns to action on Monday for a home contest against the College of New Rochelle at 7 p.m.
