Kings Point, N.Y.— The John Jay baseball team picked up its first win of the season in its first game since its Florida trip earlier this month as the Bloodhounds defeated the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) 2-1 at Lower Roosevelt Field on Monday.
With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 1-7 overall this season.
John Jay scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning.
Cosme Munoz recorded an RBI single, while fellow teammate
Wilmer Chavez scored from third on a double steal.
Meanwhile freshman pitcher
Braylin Perez went the distance and struck out five batters, walked only two and scattered four hits.
