Hoboken, N.J.— The John Jay baseball team lost on the road Wednesday afternoon falling to Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT) 10-2 at Dobbelaar Field.
With the loss, John Jay is now 2-14 this season.
The Bloodhounds had eight hits in the contest and were led by their number eight and nine hitters in the batting order. William Moran, who batted eighth, was 2-for-5, while
Yahnny Arias, the last hitter in the batting order, was 2-for-4.
The host Ducks scored four runs in the bottom of the first to go up 4-0 after the first inning.
Trailing 4-0 in the third, the Bloodhounds got on the board with an unearned run as
Wilmer Chavez recorded a base hit up the middle to score
Bobby Villante who led off the inning by reaching on an error.
John Jay's other run came in the fifth inning when Villante scored for the second time, this time when Ryan Corrigan reached on an error by the Ducks shortstop.
SIT, after scoring four runs in the first, followed with one each in the third, fourth and fifth before adding three in the seventh to lead 10-2 after seven frames.
Ronald Barillas suffered the loss after pitching 6 1/3 innings and allowing eight runs on 10 hits.
John Jay returns to action on Thursday for a game at William Paterson University at 3:30 p.m.
