Baseball Loses at William Paterson in Shortened Game

Wayne, N.J.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated on the road at William Paterson University 15-0 on Thursday afternoon in a shortened contest of seven innings due to wet weather.

With the loss, John Jay is now 2-15 overall this season.

The host Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom of the first to go up a pair, then plated three in the second, four in the third, three in the fourth and three more in the fifth en route to the fifteen run win.

William Paterson had 15 hits in the game, while the Bloodhounds earned seven.

William Moran and Corry Harper both went 2-for-3 in the contest for John Jay, while John Paul Zinser, Ryan Corrigan and Yahnny Arias had a hit each for the Bloodhounds.

Braylin Perez, Wilmer Chavez and Harper tossed two innings each. Perez suffered the loss after pitching the first two innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out two.

Scott Hansen was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI for William Paterson, while Blake Crouch was 2-for-3 with a run, a single, a double and three RBI for the Pioneers.

John Jay returns to action on Sat. April 2 for a doubleheader at Lehman College starting at 1 p.m.
